So you can use a Futaba, Spektrum, and Frsky receiver with it no problems. The cool thing about the Radiomaster TX16S is that it's a transmitter that is not loyal to any brand protocol, and instead they figured out how all the protocols worked, and can work with almost any brand protocol.
It's 'illegal' for one brand of transmitter (for example Futaba) to make a transmitter/receiver that works on DSMX protocol, because that DSMX protocol is proprietary to Spektrum brand. All of these radio protocols work similarly in the 2.4ghz range, yet they have insider "secrets" that makes one different than the other and hence the brand claims is the best protocol. For example, Spektrum uses DSMX, Futaba uses FHSS or FASST, FrSky has ACCESS. One brand will claim they have better reliability with their superior radio protocol over another brand. That's where better radio protocols come into play. People hate having their RC planes/cars/boats crash because their vehicle lost communication. So you need a transmitter and a receiver and they both have to communicate via a radio signal also known as a radio protocol. Sure, basically all radio control planes/cars/boats etc have to communicate via a transmitter (the remote in your hand) and a receiver (the device in your vehicle that receives the commands from the remote).
